Million Dollar Bacon

The best bacon you’ll ever have! Twice the flavor, half the time! Sharing is caring and y’all are going to LOVE this yummy recipe. Yummy pieces of thick bacon covered in brown sugar, spices, and maple syrup. This is literally the perfect mix of sweet and spicy. This is my version of candied bacon. Buy the thickest bacon you can find.

 Ingredients:

•   1 pound thick cut bacon (about 10 pieces)

•   1/4 cup brown sugar

•   1/2 teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper

•   1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

•   1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

•   Maple Syrup - I prefer the “Log Cabin Original” - No high fructose corn syrup

•   Coconut oil non-stick spray

Skillet Option:

Step 1) In a large bowl mix together the brown sugar, black pepper, cayenne pepper and ginger. Stir to combine.

Step 2) Place a couple of pieces of bacon into the bowl at a time. Use tongs to toss the pieces until the slices are nicely coated in the mixture. Do this until all your bacon is coated.

Step 3) Turn on skillet to medium heat. Once the pan has heated up, spray coconut oil non-stick spray.

Step 4) Using tongs place your slices of bacon onto the skillet beside one another.

Step 5) Cook on both sides. Use tongs to carefully flip each piece. Cook until the bacon is chewy, deeply caramelized and at your desired crispiness. Take note to watch bacon carefully so you don’t over cook it.

Step 6) Place bacon onto plates. Pour maple syrup over it. Serve warm.

HOLY YUM!! ENJOY!! I prefer to cook the candied bacon over the stove in a skillet rather than in the oven because it’s faster and literally tastes the same. However, if you like you can make it in the oven.

Oven Option:

Step 1) Arrange oven rack in the center of the oven. Heat to 350 Degrees. Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil. Be sure to use a rimmed baking sheet, otherwise the mixture will drip off the sides into the bottom of the oven and make a huge mess.

Step 2) In a large bowl mix together the brown sugar, black pepper, cayenne pepper and ginger. Stir to combine.

Step 3) Place a couple of pieces of bacon into the bowl at a time. Use tongs to toss the pieces until the slices are nicely coated in the mixture. Do this until all your bacon is coated.

Step 4) Line bacon onto the baking sheet and arrange close together in a single layer. Sprinkle any remaining mixture over the top of the bacon.

Step 5) When the oven is finished pre-heating. Bake for 15 minutes. Flip the slices and bake until the bacon is is chewy, deeply caramelized and at your desired crispiness. Everyone’s oven is different however, 12-15 minutes on each side usually does the trick.

Step 6) Carefully remove baking sheet from oven using a hot pad. Place bacon onto plates. Pour maple syrup over it. Serve warm.

I hope you enjoy this recipe just as much as I do!
